Short Term: - (October 2002 - June 2003)
· Provide more space for clients and staff by moving to new premises by November 2002.
· To improve Housing and Welfare Benefits services by recruiting (by December 2002) a solicitor specializing and/or experienced in these fields.
· Raise our community understanding to housing issues through a partnership projects with the Housing Department of the Camden Council (by January 2003).
· Provide training in the performing Arts for young Somalis up to the age of 25 years.
· Liaising and linking with Camden Schools. (December 2002)
Long term
The trustees and staff of the organization (SCC) are fully committed to the quality and delivery of the services we provide as well to a positive policy of equal opportunity. As well as through the establishment of new relevant services designed to fill in gaps in services for the Community: the following objectives are to be fulfilled over 3 years.
These objectives will be achieved through the continuation and expansion of our current services and activities as well as through the establishment of new relevant services designed to fill in gaps in services for the community:
· Improve our service user's lives by raising awareness, increasing their confidence and thereby reducing their sense of alienation and isolation.
· Improve the access of the community to the local services available to them, including housing, welfare benefits, immigration, education, employment and training among elders.
· Improve the access and understanding of the legal system and generally the workings of the British system.
· Enable Somali children to maintain a sense of identity and improve the knowledge of Camden Schools of the background of Somali children.
· Improve the quality of life of elderly Somalis through services and activities. |
